A mashup sampler containing a selection of sounds I'm composing with for the 'End of the Line' festival.

Fairly rough edit but it gives a good impression of what to expect with out giving too much away.

The aim is to present a live audio surround sound mix in the local cinema space. My setup will use the Kinect sensor as a means of controlling MIDI output data and hopefully will allow me to command my audio across the cinema space. Basically I want to be able to point to a speaker and have sound appear, then with one gesture be able to move that sound around the space through all available speakers.
Theoretically I can do it, technically it all comes down to the physical layout of the cinema space and tech specs regarding the sound system.

I hope for the best outcome :)

Latest sound design work for a projection mapped dance film piece commissioned by Cagoule productions as part of a residency in Glasgow UK.

HEADPHONES RECOMMENDED

Thanks to Anna Paddick for the vocal recordings.

SoundFjord, Audio Gourmet's Harry Towell (Spheruleus) and Bartosz Dziadosz (Pleq) have come together to curate an album created "by the people, for the people", to raise funds for those that has been affected by the recent unrest that ravaged cities across the country.

The album, a statement and monument to collaboration and community, brings together works selected from short unedited recordings gleaned from artists, musicians and the general public across the globe.

You can download a copy of the album on Bandcamp via the link below.
Linked from Cagoule Productions. Film extract featuring my own original sound design produced for the 'Inhabitants' live film theatre piece.

This new film work is a short extract (6min) from the longer live production and is projected at the beginning of the piece. Inhabitants is an original theatrical experience fusing live contemporary dance, sound and film.

"interesting and unique" The Skinny

"working across artforms and exploring new ideas, both of which Inhabitants does with style" The Scotsman

"Joanne Pirrie and Claricia Kruithoff consistently hold the eye" The Herald
Inhabitants - preliminary tests by Amnion

Audio test created for a contemporary dance film piece currently in production.

The tone of the film is keeping to a dark ambient aesthetic. Themes circle around ideas of decay and decomposition, isolation, fear and horror.
There's a certain palette of sounds I'm choosing to use, in particular the manipulation of violin strings to replicate creaking, drone and breathy textures.

After discussions with the director and choreographer of the film I feel like this track is a good place to start but I'm sure things will change and progress further as the creative momentum picks up.

Comments and feedback please.

Some of my sound designs I've uploaded to YouTube.

Have a look, have a listen.
